Den-En by Koji Tamaki
Koji Tamaki sings our new Song of the Week, “Den-En”. For anyone that doesn`t know Koji, he was (or maybe still is) a member of, “Anzen-Chitai”. Anzen-Chitai was probably one of the most successful groups in Japan during the 1980s. They have disbanded and reformed a couple of times, but Koji has also had a very successful solo career.
Actually, if you have the chance check out Anzen-Chitai`s, “A Wine Red Heart” (in Japanese, “ワインレッドの心”), which is one of my all-time favourite songs. I`ve tried it at karaoke a couple of times, but those attempts always ended up as epic fails.
“Den-En”, is fine Tamaki song. It`s fairly high paced, which makes it rather difficult to sing for most people in my opinion. I would have to admit though, as much as I like the song, I`m not a real big fan of the clip. It was released on July 21, 1996 and was a huge hit, selling something like 900, 000 copies and reached number two on the Oricon charts. You can see his (Japanese) website here.
