Driving to Mount Fuji

Driving to Mount Fuji

Recently my wife and I wanted to get away for a weekend, so we decided to go up to Hakone to relax and take few a pics for my new blog (Tokyo in Pics).  I also thought it might be a good idea to make a new video to show you what driving is like in Japan plus show you some hopefully good scenes of Mount Fuji.   Well, we got very lucky because for the entire time we were there we had amazingly good weather as you will see in this video.

It took about two hours to get to our destination which was the lookout at Oowakudani.  Oowakudani is one of the more famous tourist spots in the Hakone area and it offers some really spectacular views of Mount Fuji, but it can get quite overcrowded with tourists and the buses.  The lookout also has a ropeway station , places to eat and souvenir shops.  I’ll put up another article about this area in more detail in the future.

We drove up the Tomei Expressway which is a really good road and it took about 2 hours.  The Tomei has plenty of service areas (huge gas/petrol station/rest areas  where you can eat, drink and have a break) such as Gotemba.  And as long as the weather is good, there are lots of chances to see Mount Fuji.  I hope you enjoy the video.
